Blue Ridge Post Lunch Series Wednesday, February 14th, 2018

Join us for Guest Speaker:

Mr. Kenneth Wright, PE

NE Prinicpal Bridge Engineer, HDR

The Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge replaces the original 3.1 mile Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River with two parallel bridges off-line immediately to the north.  The bridges feature twin-tower, cable-stayed bridges over the navigation channel of the Hudson River and the approach spans primarily consist of continuous steel girder-substringer units.  Key site constraints that drove the selected bridge type will be presented.  A brief discussion of the ITS features incorporated into the project will be covered.  The benefits of the design-build delivery model will be reviewed to demonstrate potential benefits that can be realized when the contractor and engineer are working together to deliver large projects.
